In this episode, James Cole (Aaron Stanford) and Dr. Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull), with the help of Aaron Marker (Noah Bean), tracked down the creator of the virus- Oliver Peters. Meanwhile, in the future, Ramse (Kirk Acevedo) left the facility to protect his newfound family, and encountered the leader of The Daughters- Jennifer Goines (Emily Hampshire). After a life-changing event, Ramse set his sights on doing whatever it took to protect his son. Cole prepared himself to meet Leland Goines (Zeljko Ivanek) and to destroy the source of the plague in 1987. Read on to learn more about this episode.

In 2043, Ramse (Kirk Acevedo) knocked out on of Dr. Katarina Jones’ (Barbara Sukowa) scientists, took the injections which were used on James Cole (Aaron Stanford) before he “splintered.” Then, he torched the room containing all their research. He then left and told Elena (Amy Sloan), at the camp at the theme park, that as soon as Cole returned, that he would make sure that Cole wouldn’t splinter again, as it was killing him. They were then on alert as they thought that scavengers were onto them. It turned out to be a group of nomadic women, called “The Daughters,” who were on the move. However, Ramse recognized the symbol of the Army of the Twelve Monkeys painted on one of the vans.

In 2015, Dr. Cassandra “Cassie” Railly (Amanda Schull) and Aaron Marker (Noah Bean) talked about how they were now adrenaline junkies, and shared a passionate kiss before Cole forced the door open. Cole was happy to see Cassie again as the last time he had seen her, she had died in his arms in 2017. Cassie began to lose hope in stopping the virus, as they were now following leads blindly. Aaron, who was upset at the fact that Cassie had died in 2017. It was because it would be impossible to track down Oliver Peters, whom they realized had given the army the virus, without alerting the CIA, decided to leave.

They then broke into a lab. They discovered that the Man with Petals (Tom Noonan) had killed Peters’ husband, and discovered his private journal. While there, Cole experienced another headache in which he had another vision of a blonde woman, a glass with milk breaking, and a gun. Aside from the recipe of the virus, they discovered that the M510 virus originated from a body recovered in the Himalayas in the ‘80s. They found a Japanese newspaper clipping from 1987, along with the address for a night club called the White Dragon. Cole then realized that he had to go back and meet Leland Goines (Zeljko Ivanek) there, just as Goines had said, as that was the source of the virus. Before Cole left, he wondered why Cassie seemed so cold, and Cassie told him that she knew that the time jumps were killing him.

Back in 2043, Cole was told what Ramse had done. He readied himself for a treatment that would help stabilize him for a while. He made Jones promise that Ramse wouldn’t be hurt when Whitley and the others went to look for him. However, Jones made it clear that the injections were more important.

Meanwhile, Ramse entered The Daughters’ camp, and was brought to their leader, Jennifer Goines (Emily Hampshire). She told him that everything was “out of order” and that they still had time to “undo” everything that they- Ramse, Cole and Jennifer, had done. She also told him that the only one who knew how to stop the plague was “The Witness.” They gave him a necklace while telling him that he was going to be a good friend.

Back in 2015, Cassie convinced Aaron to help her out. They tracked a shipment of monkeys- the best test subjects for a virus, to a shipping yard with containers, where they split up. There, Cassie discovered that Peters had been locked up in a container that had a lab. After learning that his husband was dead, she asked Cassie to kill him as he had given the army the virus already. However, she spared his life.

Meanwhile, a woman with the group told Aaron that Cassie was important to him and to them. She asked what he was willing to do to save Cassie. Later, he told Cassie that saving the life of the one that you loved was more important, however, Cassie disagreed with him.

While this happened, one of Whitley’s guards accidentally shot Elena, causing Ramse to infiltrate the facility. He placed a bomb on the machine so that Cole wouldn’t time travel anymore, and so that Sam, Ramse’s son, would still be alive. Max then took a bullet to the stomach after shooting him so that Jones and her could escape. Before she died, Max told Cole not to let Ramse go, as he had injected himself and splintered to the preprogrammed coordinates to Japan in 1987.

Afterwards, before Cole left, Jones told him that this was his last jump, and to make sure that he destroyed the source of the virus. After Jones warned him that Ramse will try to stop him, Cole told her that whatever he did, he wouldn’t kill Ramse.

In Japan, in 1987, Ramse arrived.
