Josh Duggar, the eldest child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar in the hit TV series “19 Kids and Counting” sexually molested five girls back in 2002 including his sisters when he was 14 years old. Finally, after so many years he addressed the allegations against him. Read below for the full details.

Josh, now 27 years old and married to Anna Duggar released a statement as reported by People Magazine.

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

Jim Bob and Michelle, apparently, were the one who reported their son to authorities when he confessed. However, back then no charges were filed against him.

With his admittance of the allegations against him, Josh has resigned from his position at the Family Research Council. Meanwhile, his family still stands by him throughout this difficult time in his life.

His parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, expressed their views on what happened on a joint statement as well.

“Back 12 years ago our family went through one of the most difficult times of our lives. When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes, and we were shocked. We had tried to teach him right from wrong. That dark and difficult time caused us to seek God like never before.” You can read the rest of the statement on their official Facebook page.

His wife has also released a statement expressing that she knew about that mistake two years. It happened before they got engaged because Josh willingly told her about it. At first, she admitted that she was confused why Josh told him that but at the same time appreciated it and admired Josh’s openness and humility. So when Josh asked her to marry him, without hesitation, she said yes because she knows what Josh has been through and what kind of help he has received to correct his past mistakes. Anna is very thankful for the support of Josh’s family. She said that she will continue to support her husband. She also expressed that she is grateful for all of the people who helped Josh.

“19 Kids and Counting” is now in its 15th season on TLC.
