Justin Bieber may not be recording any albums or getting into trouble lately, but he has still managed to become a hot commodity! As the end of the year comes to a close, various social media networks have already started to gather data and assess statistics. And based on these findings, it turns out the 20-year-old singer was this year’s most tweeted about artist.

According to the findings released by Twitter earlier today, Justin Bieber was the single most talked about musician through tweets. Following his footsteps were members of the British boy band One Direction: Niall Horan (second spot), Harry Styles (third), and Liam Payne (fourth). Unfortunately, their fourth member Zayn did not place on the ranking. The fifth spot went to Ariana Grande.

As to who gathered the musicians with the most number of followers, the spot went to songstress Katy Perry, who was able to garner 13 million followers this year. This number makes her total number of followers to an astonishing 60 million, which is more than the other musicians. Following her on this list is the Biebs, who ranked in 11 million followers to reach his current 56 million mark. Taylor Swift has gained 10 million followers, landing her on the third spot with a total of 46 million followers.

The recent report also revealed number of other information about Twitter trends and the public’s interest on their favorite artists. The album that gained the most tweeted about spot in 2014 is none other than Beyonce’s self-titled album, which was released last December. As to the overall number one most tweeted about topic for the year turned out to be music, further subdivided into different genres: hip-hop, R&B and pop.

Additionally, the most tweeted about music event was Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Super Bowl halftime performance, which generated 229,533 tweets per minute. The next event was Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons’ performance during the Grammys, with 171,593 tweets per minute. On third and fourth spot belonged to Lorde for two separate events: her Grammy award for best pop solo performance with 152,888 tweets per minute and her performance on the said event with 146,083 tweets per minute.
