Sometimes, in the entertainment industry, there are those who come and go, those whose careers don’t go anymore higher than they already are, some who are continually making progress, and will continue to do so, and others who are still on the rise, in terms of earnings and when it comes to their paychecks. Sometimes, popularity is key, as it motivates producers and directors to cast particular actors in their dramas or films. Regardless of popularity, in the end, what really matters when it comes to how successful an actor or actress is, aside from the legacy that they leave behind, is, of course, how much their paychecks are. Recently, a list of around fifteen of the most popular and highest paid actors in South Korea was released, which showed that sometimes, popularity and one’s paycheck do come hand in hand. Read on to learn more about who made the list, and how much these actors make.

According to both Soompi and K Drama Stars, Ilgan Sports, a South Korean news outlet, has just recently released a list which listed down the top fifteen highest paid South Korean actors for this year, 2015.

The stars that came out on top were Kim Soo Hyun and Hyun Bin. They reportedly charge 100 million Korean Won or $83,900 per episode for any drama that they film for this year.

According to K Drama Stars, aside from being a good actor, Kim is also known as the “King of Commercials,” as his drama roles managed to help him land several lucrative endorsement deals.

“Secret Garden’s” Hyun Bin’s success, according to Soompi, comes from the fact that “Secret Garden,” his last drama before leaving to complete his mandatory military service, was so successful, that he managed to command a large fee for his comeback drama, “Hyde, Jekyll, Me”.

The next batch of actors on the list is those that Soompi terms as the “Hallyu Kings,” or actors who are not just rising in popularity in Korea, but worldwide as well. Aside from this, these actors are highly sought after by directors in Korea.

Topping this category are actors are So Ji Sub and actor Jo In Sung.

So Ji Sub’s paycheck is around 80 million Korean Won or %67,100 per episode, which has remained the same since the 2012 drama “Phantom”, and according to K Drama Stars, he will be receiving the same amount in his upcoming drama with Shin Min Ah, entitled “Oh My God”.

Jo In Sung’s highest earnings, according to Soompi, came about in 2013, with his drama “That Winter, the Wind Blows.” However, Jo In Sung, according to K Drama Stars, reportedly earns just as much as So Ji Sub, and earned the same amount for his 2014 drama “It’s Okay, That’s Love.”

The next batch of actors in the list are popular actors Lee Min Ho (“The Heirs”; “City Hunter”; “Boys Over Flowers”) , Yoo Ah In (“The Throne”, “Sungkyunkwan Scandal”) and Lee Seung Gi (“My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox”, You’re All Surrounded”, “Love Forecast”), who each earn around 70 million Korean Won or $ 58,700 per episode.

Meanwhile, actor Soong Joong Ki, who, according to Soompi, will be making his comeback this year in the drama “Descendants of the Sun”, and “Doctor Stranger” and “Pinocchio” actor Lee Jong Suk both earn around 60 million Korean Won or around $50,300 per episode.
