Fox confirms “24” reboot called “24: Legacy” starring Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto, and Jimmy Smits. Kiefer Sutherland still in the series as executive producer.
Fox Network signed up for the series order of “24: Legacy.” The reboot is reported to be somewhat similar to Kiefer Sutherland’s TV series. The team has to race against the clock to impede a well-planned terrorist attack in the American territory. The series will also follow the real-time format which is original to the series.
According to Just Jared, “24: Legacy” however, will consist of 12 episodes disparate to the original “24” which made up of 24 episodes for the entire eight seasons.
“24: Legacy” is reported to feature an entirely fresh lead character to be portrayed by “Straight Outta Compton” actor Corey Hawkins. He will play a military hero named Eric Carter who returns to the United States after a mission only to be welcomed back by more danger. Hawkins’ character discovers a large scale terrorist attack is on the way and enlists the help of Ingram from CTU.
The actor will be joined by “Homeland” star Miranda Otto who will act as Ingram and “Sons of Anarchy” cast member Jimmy Smits with still unnamed character. Keifer Sutherland, the actor behind the iconic Jack Bauer, is purportedly still part of “24: Legacy” but will take control behind the camera as an executive producer, Variety reported. Several sources also stated that the reboot will introduce an entirely new set of cast and no returning characters from the previous series.
To recall from the finale of “24” Season 8, Jack Bauer freed and entrusted his daughter Kim to CTU’s Chloe who covered up for him so he could escape the American and Russian governments.
“24: Legacy” is produced by the pioneer team of the original “24” Howard Gordon, Manny Coto, Evan Katz and Brian Grazer.
Fox targets 2016-2017 for the premiere of “24: Legacy.”
