FOX is apparently on a revival-spree in 2016 as it has announced the revival of yet another hit series from its kitty – “24.”The news of the revival of this show was announced by FOX on Sunday at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour.
Interestingly, the new edition of the show will be titled “24: Legacy,” IGN India reported. However, to the dismay of the avid followers of “24,” the upcoming season of the show will not have the star of the series Kiefer Sutherland, who essayed the lead role of Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent Jack Bauer. The upcoming part of “24” will be the half-season resurgence.
It was mainly due to Sutherland’s star power and the storyline of the show that made “24” as massive hit all over the world. However, with the discontinuation of both the important factors, the show’s run may not be as hit as it was in the previous editions.
“24” first premiered on Nov. 6, 2001 and there was no looking back for it till July 14, 2014. It was due to the show’s over the top successful stint that it went on till its eighth season before finally seeing the curtains down in 2014 with “24: Live Another Day.”
In the last episode of “Live Another Day,” Jack Bauer was shown surrendering to the Russians for the sake of Chloe’s (Mary Lynn Rajskub) freedom. The storyline of the new season is set to focus on a military hero’s return to the U.S. the show will emphasize the troubles experienced by him and his heroic spirit.
In addition to this, it has been reported that “24: Legend” will have “Homeland” developer Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz as executive producers.
The Hollywood Reporter also reported that none of the previous stars of “24” will reprise their roles in “24: Legacy.” The website also reported that the character of Jack Bauer will be played by the African-American guy in his 20s. This major change is being brought to the show as the makers are trying to make the role as “different from Jack Bauer as possible,” The Hollywood Reporter revealed.
