The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, announced the nominees for its 42nd Annual Annie Awards on Dec.1, 2014. Read on to learn more about the 42nd Annual Annie Awards nominations.
Created in 1972 by June Foray, the Annie Awards recognizes the year’s best in the field of animation. Laika Animation's "The Boxtrolls," is leading the list with 13 nods, including a nod for Best Animated Feature. Dreamworks Animation's "How to Train Your Dragon 2" followed with 10 nominations, joining "Boxtrolls" in the Character Animation, Animation Effects and Best Feature categories.
Aside from the mentioned nominees, the other animated picsincluded in the Best Animated Feature are "Big Hero 6," "The Book of Life," "Cheatin'," "The LEGO Movie,"Song of the Sea" and "The Tale of Princess Kaguya."
The Annie Awards will announce the winners of its 36 categories covering animated features, TV series, video games and more at a black-tie ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at UCLA’s Royce Hall. A pre-reception and press line will be held at 5:00 p.m. with the awards ceremony following at 7:00 p.m. A post-show celebration immediately follows the ceremony. All events will be held at Royce Hall.
