Australian power-pop quartet 5 Seconds of Summer is enjoying great success with the release of their new single “She’s Kinda Hot.” 5SOS Calum Hood, however, recently expressed his desire to bring back one thing on the radio. Read on to find out more about the Aussie rockers.
5 Seconds of Summer’s latest single “She’s Kinda Hot” is currently at the 22nd position in The Billboard Hot 100 charts. They have also risen to their highest position yet in the Social 50 chart after their performance at the Billboard Music Awards on May 18.
5SOS occupied the 5th spot, which is great as Billboard reports that 5SOS currently has 3.21 million fans on Facebook and 2.92 million Twitter followers, not nearly as much as some of the most popular artists. However the band has been keen to maintain an engaging social media strategy, with an unprecedented one-on-one interaction routine with their loyal coterie of followers. The Social 50 charts compares metrics from artists’ social media profiles such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even Wikipedia.
The Australian band consists of Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood. The “Amnesia” hit makers are currently busy with the US leg of their “Rock Out With Your Socks Out” tour.
“She’s Kinda Hot,” the first single from their upcoming album, hit the airwaves on Friday and currently has 6 million views on Youtube.
In the meantime, Calum Hood previously spoke to News Australia at San Francisco about his desire to bring rock back to the radios.
“Hopefully we introduce a bit more guitar on the radio and inspire some people to pick up guitars. We love rock music and we want to hear it back on mainstream radio,” he said.
5 Seconds of Summer, however, has been slammed on social media for their boy-band image, which seemingly resembles One Direction. It is worth noting, however, that unlike Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne of 1D, members of 5SOS mostly write their own material and play their own instruments.
