5SOS had recently appeared on the “Late Late Show” hosted by James Corden. The popular Aussie rockers revealed various anecdotes about 5 Seconds of Summer. They also discussed how the band was formed and how Ashton Irwin got associated with the band.
As the 5SOS were chatting on the show, it came out as a great surprise that their band mate Ashton Irwin almost did not become a member of their band.
The boys revealed this secret when the host of the show James Corden addressed Calum, Michael and Luke and said how the trio met to form the band. The host also asked whether they tracked Irwin on Facebook or not.
Calum responded saying that initially, it was not a band. It was just that the trio collaborated together and had done covers on the YouTube.
Eventually, all three of them managed to book a gig and discussed that perhaps they needed a drummer along with them.
Irwin then joined in sharing that it was Michael who sent him a message at 2 am in the night and asked what he was doing. Michael then said that things blossomed from that time onwards.
Ashton Irwin continued that Michael messaged him asking whether he would like to join them in participating in a show with the band. He agreed and the rest, as you all know, is history. 5 Seconds of Summer was eventually formed with Ashton Irwin in it.
Corden said that perhaps that was the greatest story for any person who has been active on Facebook sending a message at 2 am.
And what a great outcome came out of that simple exchange of messages!
5SOS band mates were then asked about what they thought was the most extreme thing that any fan did to them. Calum replied that it was not 1 fan but about 5 of them who went crazy over them.
The band was performing at a show in Las Vegas and about fifty of these fans climbed up through a vent. It happened just a night before their show was scheduled at LA.
