American Cinema Editors (ACE) announced nominations for the 65th Annual ACE Eddie Awards on Jan. 2, 2015. The awards recognize the outstanding editing in 10 categories of film, television and documentaries. Winners will be revealed during ACE’s annual black-tie awards ceremony on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Shortly, ACE will announce the Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year honoree and two Career Achievement honorees. Read on for further details of this event.
“Boyhood” has been an award sweep this year and nominated by the American Cinema Editors as the Best Edited Dramatic Feature of 2014 along with “American Sniper,” “Gone Girl,” “The Imitation Game,” “Nightcrawler” and “Whiplash.”
The noteworthy points are: The winner of the Best Edited Dramatic Feature category has gone on to win the Oscar in editing in nine of the past 12 years. In 2014, for the second time in the ACE’s history, a tie resulted in an additional nominee in the Best Edited Feature Film (Dramatic) category creating six nominees, instead of five. In 2013, a tie in the Best Edited Animated Feature Film resulted in four nominees, instead of the normal three nominees.
And that’s it for the 65th Annual American Cinema Editors (ACE) nominations.
