Filipino group 4th Impact has praised “The X Factor” UK 2015 judge Simon Cowell on Friday for making them feel appreciated during their stay in the competition.
It’s no secret that one of the reasons the girls joined the show was to perform in front of the head honcho.
And the girls were thankful to Cowell for making them feel as if he was their relative.
“He was like an uncle to us, a friend, he was so humble and he wasn’t like Simon Cowell the boss,” Almira, 28, told Hello! Online. “Never once in the live shows did he give us rude comments or make us feel depressed.”
It’s understandable why Cowell admired contestants like 4th Impact. Week after week, he has seen the girls’ work ethic – practicing their dance steps and vocals like there was no tomorrow.
So, visiting the girls’ performances in the competition, here are eight ways that Cowell made them feel appreciated.
1. “One of the best I’ve ever seen”
In their first performance at the show’s audition, the sisters’ blew Wembley away when they performed Jessie J’s “Bang Bang.”
After their take, Cowell was impressed and said, “In terms of first auditions, this is probably one of the best I’ve ever seen.”
2. “You Are Amazing”
It’s the six chair challenge and every contestant was vying for a seat to proceed to the judges’ houses. 4th Impact (previously known as 4th Power) gave an insane performance of Christina Aguilera’s “Show Me How You Burlesque.”
“I think you are actually amazing,” Cowell said. “I am thrilled that you’ve chosen this show, this country to compete in, and I think the British will gonna fall in love with you.”
3. “That was fantastic!”
Finally, 4th Impact have made it to the first Live Show and they fixed Ariana Grande’s “Problem.” After seeing their performance, Simon Cowell was really amazed.
“That was fantastic,” he said. “You are great singers and you’ve got attitude. And you’re passionate and you rehearsed.”
4. “A band who I know who rehearse like crazy”
It was “Reinvention Week” for the show’s second Live Show and 4th Impact gave a mash-up performance of Girls Aloud’s “Sound of the Underground” and Shirley Ellis’ “Clapping Song.”
How was their performance? According to Cowell, the girls were better than the first Live Show.
“You are a band who I know who rehearse like crazy. You are ready for the real world. You’ve got a lot of competition in this competition. But I thought you did great, you’ve always done great,” he said.
5. “Under circumstances, one of the most incredible things we’ve seen”
Third Live Show was “Movie Week” and the pressure was getting into the contestants. After their take on Beyonce’s “Work It Out,” one of 4th Impact’s members, Celina, almost collapsed on the stage.
Making his comments short, Cowell said, “All I’m gonna tell you is, I’ve done this a lot of years, that was, under circumstances, one of the most incredible things we’ve seen on this show.”
6. “Brilliant, professional, sassy”
Then, there was the fourth Live Show. 4th Impact have been feeling homesick already and were missing their family in the Philippines, especially their father.
Ignoring the homesickness, the group performed Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man.” However, Cowell was quite dissatisfied about their performance and said he wanted to see them more individually.
Nevertheless, he said, “Girls, brilliant, professional, sassy.”
7. “You started singing and everything changed”
Cowell was touched by it and said, “Hi girls. Can I be honest with you? When you walked on wearing identical dresses again and then I saw the flowers in the background and then I thought, ‘Oh God you’re gonna be singing I’ll Be There’ I was really dregging it. And then you started to sing and everything changed.”
8. “It was fun, it was cute, it was current”
Finally, Cowell has got what he was looking for: Knowing the girls individually.
Commenting on their take on “Fancy,” he said, “It was fun, it was cute, it was current. I now know you as Almira, Irene, Celina, and Mylene.”
Although winning the competition would have been great for 4th Impact, but they have not left empty handed. One of their dreams has come true: To perform in front of Simon Cowell.
“I really hope that he’ll keep in touch with us!” Almira said. “We want to thank the show and also Simon and Cheryl for giving us the ride to fame! We’ve been trying to make it for ten years and almost came to a point where we had given up. But this just proved that if you don’t give up on your dreams something will happen and you have to believe in it.”
Currently, the plan is to reportedly make the girls stay in order to make a name for themselves in the UK. So, here’s to hoping they get signed.
