The “99 Homes” movie was one of the most talked about movies last year in the film festivals of Toronto, Venice and Telluride. After almost a year the movie’s producers revealed the first trailer of the movie starring Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon. Based on a true story, it revolves around Andrew Garfield’s character and boasts of a strong storyline.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Andrew plays Dennis Nash, a struggling single father who lives with his son and mother and barely manages to make the ends meet when he along with his family are evicted out of their house by a real shady and powerful Real Estate broker played by Michael Shannon. He has to get his house back and in order to do that he must work for the same guy who brought him on the streets.
Soon Dennis finds he doing the broker’s dirty job for him and starts to live a real comfortable life but not before things turn awry and it becomes impossible for Andrew’s character to step out of it. The movie, which has multiple producers like Ashok Amritraj, Andrew Garfield, Justin Nappi and Kevin Turen will be releasing with a new distributor Broad Green Pictures with Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment holding the international rights of the movie. The company also financed the film with ImageNation based out in Abu Dhabi that already had a multi million deal signed with the company a few years back.
The movie that received great review at the above mentioned prestigious film festivals will open on September 25 and hope to impress the others as well. Director Ramin Bahrani mentioned that once he happened to see the movie at the Sundance festival he called up the executives at Broad Green and asked to edit some changes here and there. The movie is his fifth feature film and is confident that an independent film like this can appeal both to the masses as well as the Oscar voters.
