The hit Korean drama series “My Love From Another Star” will be getting its American treatment, as the network ABC is set to make an adaptation the Kim Soo-hyun starrer drama. For more details on this story read on.
According to the Hollywood Reporter (THR), a source confirms that the network has already has a script with an attached penalty for the remake of the drama.
Ji-eun Park who created the original series will be executive producing the project along with Bomi Moon from the flagship’s producer HB Entertainment. The adaptation will be co-written by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain, who are also set to executive produce. “My Love From Another Star” will be produced by HB Entertainment and EnterMedia Contents in association with Sony Pictures Television.
Similar to its Korean Formant, ABC’s remake of “My Love From Another Star” follows the love story of an unlikely match, Lark, a world-class actress in the modern era and his neighbor, James, an alien who landed on Earth 400 years ago. The story continues as ‘he develops an anti-social behavior due to his disillusionment of human nature’s pettiness. Having a premonition of Lark’s murder, James finds himself drawn in the chaotic life of Lark and deeply falling in love – just when he gets the chance to return to whence he came from, the stars.”
“My Love from the Star”had an impact on Korean fashion, food and books. Clothes, accessories and make-up products worn by Jun Ji-hyun saw an unexpected surge in orders. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo, a children’s novel that languished in obscurity for five years, was propelled to the top of the bestseller lists in major Korean bookstores after the male protagonist repeatedly quotes from it throughout the series. “My Love from the Star” also placed first as “Korea’s most favorite program” and also proved to be successful in China where the series struck up a craze for chimaek a popular Korean snack of chicken and beer, which is the favorite snack of the female protagonist.
