Sometimes, more often than not, some cult favorite television shows get cancelled despite a wonderful cast, showrunners, and big fan base. One such show was NBC’s “Community”, which was revived several times, and whose last season was aired on Yahoo. Read on.
Despite all of this, “Community” and “Dr. Ken” actor Ken Jeong refuses to give up hope that the sixth season finale will be the last time the members of “Community” will ever be together again. Read on to learn more about Ken Jeong thinks about the future of “Community.”
“Community,” is a comedy that quickly became a cult favorite. It centered around a quirky group of adults, who met each other at a study group at Greendale Community College. There, they also met other quirky characters, such as Ben Chang, portrayed by actor and comedian Ken Jeong. He was an insane professor in the college for some time, before pursuing an acting career.
The series, which used to air on NBC, was picked up for a final and sixth season by Yahoo. It was after the news went around that the show was going to be cancelled in its fifth season. However, Jeong refuses to believe that the cast and crew of “Community” will never see each other again.
Jeong recently told Variety that he would still be on board if “The Powers That Be” ever decided to make a seventh season, or a movie follow-up to the show. As of today, however, nothing official has been stated, and although Jeong feels that the “stars are aligned” for either a season seven or a movie, some of the cast members of the show might not be on board, as Cinemablend reminded its readers and “Community” fans that actors Donald Glover and Chevy Chase left the series after the fifth season.
However, according to Jeong’s interview with Variety, Joel McHale, who portrays the ringleader of their group, is more than willing to commit to any future “Community” plans, and is always in touch with Jeong.
Regardless of everything, Jeong hopes to bring in several members of the “Community” family as guest stars in his upcoming series, “Dr. Ken.” However, if that doesn’t happen, Jeong teased that there will most certainly be a “Community” reunion in the future.
