Talking about numerous reboots in Hollywood at the moment, “Fantastic Four” is one of the Marvel comic book-based films that are greatly being pushed and cast Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan share that this new one is going to be different. Read on to know more about the details to this scoop.
Marvel is certainly taking Hollywood by storm and is doing a great job in highlighting the films that they are working on to put in the big screen for the following years. Among the many films that are heading to the theaters, soon is the story about a group of four heroes, each member possessing the power of ultimate flexibility, fire, rock-solid physicality and invisibility respectively. We all know what that group’s name is — the “Fantastic Four.” Part of the recently confirmed cast of the reboot directed by Josh Trank is Miles Teller, playing the role of Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, and opposite him is Michael B. Jordan, who plays the role of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch. Now both actors are sharing that their character’s versions in the reboot will be a lot different from the original.
According to MTV, 27-year-old actor Michael B. Jordan was one of the first who got cast into the “Fantastic Four” reboot, and it was all because of his previous working relationship with helmsman Josh Trank on the sci-fi “Chronicle.” A lot of people were shocked with the sudden change of race for the character of Human Torch, and most of them were not happy about it. Despite such feedback, the actor decided to brush off the haters and move on to making a great version of the character as he possibly could.
In an interview featured by NY Daily News, he started off by saying how much of a fan he was of the comic books and fantasizing about playing those roles that involve superpowers. He also said that being a part of the Marvel family is such a big deal for him and how much he actively geeks out about it. Talking about how he takes on the character, he likes the fact that it’s able to push his creative skills to the edge, even giving the late Heath Ledger’s portrayal of The Joker in the “Dark Knight” as one of his examples.
“I’ve always been attracted to characters that are very complicated or complex. I think Heath Ledger did such a great job with The Joker and the way he performed it. How it was so crazy and psychotic, but you kind of understood it. I want to step in those shoes and play a role like that,” said Jordan on NY Daily News.
On the other hand, Miles Teller has been so busy promoting his latest film, “Whiplash,” but he just cannot go on to an interview without being asked about his titular role as Mr. Fantastic. He then shared to Wall Street Journal about how he envisions the character of Reed and how he embeds it into being.
“The man that everybody knows, Reed Richards, is this highly intelligent genius. He’s a master mechanic; he’s a quantum physicist, a mechanical engineer. He can understand everything and that’s almost his own super power. The fun part for me is the Fantastic Four characters started older [in the comics] – [so] you want to try and create the person. That’s all I tried to do: Find the person behind the suit. He’s not Mr. Fantastic all the time. He’s Reed Richards. So figure out who Reed Richards is,” shared Teller to Wall Street Journal.
There’s certainly more changes for us to expect on Fox’s reboot of the “Fantastic Four.” Here’s to hoping that majority of them will be great ones. It opens in theaters on Aug. 7, 2015.
