According to Deadline, Sony decided to move the initial theatrical release of Adam Sandler comedy “Pixels” 2 months after its initial theatrical release. The film will now be released officially on July 24, 2015 from its former schedule on May 15, 2014.
For its July 2015 premiere, “Pixels” will face-off against the supernatural thriller “Poltergeist” and Judd Apatow-starrer comedy “Trainwreck.” If the original schedule was not changed, the initial release will lead the film facing-off against “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Pitch Perfect 2.”
The story of “Pixels” will start off with a mistake. An 8-bit Alien Species thought that Earth has declared war against them. It was after the alien misinterpreted the video feed of a video game as a threat. This mistake has resulted to the alien’s mission to invade Earth. In retaliation, the President (Kevin James) enlists the help of his childhood best friend (Adam Sandler). His character’s talent as a former arcade champ-turned-home theater installer might be the key to defeat the aliens.
Aside from “Pixels,” the production studio also moves their Brad Pitt-starrer World War II drama, “Fury.” It was moved from Oct. 17 to Nov. 14, 2014. It will be the time to collide against “Dracula Untold,” animated film “Book of Life” and “Birdman”.
The war drama stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal, Michael Pena, Jason Isaacs and Scott Eastwood in a story of a battle-hardened U.S. Army tank crew and commander (Pitt) on a mission to launch an attack at the heart of Nazi Germany.
“Fury” is directed by helmer David Ayer, produced by QED International’s Bill Block and Ayer, Ethan Smith and John Lesher and executive produced by Pitt, Sasha Shapiro, Anton Lessine, Alex Ott and Ben Waisbren.
“Pixels” is an upcoming 3D live-action/computer-animated film produced by Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison Productions and is directed by Chris Columbus.
