Adam Sandler is good at spotting a chance to be funny. Back in the 1990’s, Sandler had created a Chanukah song which listed out all the celebrities who celebrated Chanukah back in the nineties. Now he has come up with an updated version of the song which includes celebrities like Seth Rogen and Scarlett Johansson. He played it to packed audiences at the Carnegie Hall.
Yep. It’s that time of the year again. This is the time when every Jewish boy and girl wishes that they had a little Christmas tree in their living room, just so they can fit in at school and boast that they too were given Christmas presents. And it is also the time of the year, when Jewish parents try to tell their children that even though they don’t have the “Christmas presents” tradition in their culture, they can and do celebrate Chanukah, which is just as wholesome and good as Christmas. Jewish children, of course, know that Christmas is slightly more fun than Chanukah, but they never tell anybody about it and repeat the same lies to their children when they are all grown up.
At any rate, Sandler knows how funny it gets for the Jews around this time of the year, and he decided to revamp his funny Chanukah song from the 90’s for the little ones who are growing up in the new century. So instead of the 90’s icons like David Lee Roth, Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock, he decided to talk about the new actors like Seth Rogen, Scarlett Johansson, and Drake. We were surprised to know that Drake is Jewish. According to Adam Sandler, even David Beckham is a “quarter Jewish.” Well, there’s something we didn’t know about him.
Happy Holiday Season, everyone! And don’t forget to send your Jewish friends presents.
