With just month away until the premiere of the first episode of “S.H.I.E.L.D.’s” upcoming season, both ABC and MARVEL have released a new and detailed synopsis of what viewers and fans should be expecting in the upcoming third season.
It is no secret that in the aftermath of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s battle with the Inhumans, S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), tasked Agent Skye (Chloe Bennett), who will be referred to in the third season by her real name, Daisy Johnson, to create a secret task force comprised of Inhumans, who would operate in secret.
This, of course, is the closest that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will get to the “Secret Warriors” series of MARVEL.
However, joining Daisy along for this ride is Agent Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons). He is perfect for the job given his skeptical nature, which was also the reason Coulson put him in charge of the Task Force dedicated to studying alien technology, such as the Kree “monolith” which swallowed Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) in the second season finale.
Their mission, however, is now of extreme importance. It was especially as the Terrigen crystals, which create a mist that activates one’s Inhuman capabilities, has now been spread all over the world.
While Mack and Daisy are off on their own mission, Coulson is still trying to regroup. Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) is still on vacation with her ex-husband, Andrew Garner (Blair Underwood), Agent Leo Fitz (Iaian de Castecker) is currently throwing himself into finding Simmons. Agent Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse (Adrienne Palicki) is still recovering from the wounds inflicted upon her by the traitorous Grant Ward (Brett Dalton). His presence still threatens S.H.I.E.L.D., as the new commander of HYDRA is determined on getting revenge for the death of Agent 33 or Kara (Maya Stojan), by destroying Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D.
However, Ward and HYDRA are the least of Coulson’s worries as he will soon come face to face with the leader (Constance Zimmer) of a new organization called Advanced Threat Containment Unit (ATCU) and her partner Agent Banks (Andrew Howard), who will be racing against Coulson, Daisy and Mack in finding new Inhumans.
Also along for the ride are two new Inhumans- Joey and Lash.
Joey, a relatively new Inhuman still struggling with his new powers, will be portrayed by Juan Pablo Raba.
Lash, whose presence in the upcoming season has been teased ever since the San Diego Comic Con, will be, according to MARVEL and Comic Book Resources, will be portrayed by former NFL player Matthew Willig.
According to Comic Book Resources, Lash is a powerful Inhuman whose powers include creating whips, hence the name. He has pronounced himself as judge and jury when it comes to determining who is worthy or not to receive Inhuman powers.
It was also teased that other interesting characters, who haven’t yet been announced, will be joining the third season as well.
