According to Inquirer, Ben Chan, chairman of Suyen Corporation, that owns the Bench line of retail products, thinks that the love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza from the longtime running TV show, “Eat Bulaga” are perfect to represent the Bench products and perfume line. He thinks that it is “Tamang Panahon” to sign up the couple that represents the youthful spirit of Philippines.
In fact, Chan and Suyen corporation had spotted #AlDub’s potential as early as four months back when they were just beginning to write the gimmick that was to go viral via social media in Philippines and even other parts of the world. He believed that Aldub were “a good representation of the Philippines Youth.”
“Bench has always chosen endorsers who capture the zeitgeist, the current mood of pop culture,” Ben Chan told the press via email, adding, “And if there’s any local show that embodies ‘Pinoy pop culture and love local,’ it’s got to be a 40-year-old institution like Eat Bulaga.”
“Eat Bulaga” is running in its 36th year and is showing no signs of backing down. Thanks to the gimmicky love of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, “Eat Bulaga” has hit the highest all-time TV show ratings this year. It is obvious that this programme represents the spirit of Philippines, old and dependable but still young at heart. It is a great representation of the love local meme, and their segment Aldub simply embraces the Pinoy Pop attitude of creating something fresh and frothy every time.
Ben Chan said that he was as excited to know more about AlDub’s future as the public who regularly watches it. He said that he was very happy to embrace the AlDub phenomenon before other outlets got to them.
