The battle of breastfeeding and breast milk pumping is still not over. And things just got hotter when breastfeeding advocate Alyssa Milano took to Twitter to bash the security of the Heathrow Airport in London for confiscating about 10 ounces of breast milk she pumped during her flight.

On Thursday, April 9, Alyssa Milano took to Twitter to post a series of rants against the TSA of the Heathrow Airport. According to her story, Milano was on a trip with her husband Dave Bugliari without their children and were riding on a plane to London. During the flight, Milano pumped some breast milk. However, upon landing, the 10 ounces (or at least 295ml) of breast milk Milano pumped was confiscated because she didn’t bring her baby along.

According to airport security guidelines, liquids in carry-ons must be less than 100ml or 0.33 ounces, however with regards to breast milk and baby food, it may be brought in quantities larger than the usual limit. But this is only applicable if the baby is with the traveling parent.

In her tweets, Milano argued as to why her toiletries were checked and allowed while her breast milk wasn’t. She claimed that her shampoo and other liquid containers were around 5 ounces or close to 150ml each, but they were easily handed back to her. She added that she would have gladly separated the breast milk in separate containers since she brings some out of habit.

Supporters of Milano tweeted in agreement. Some even said that the airport’s rules are all messed up and that they do not understand the importance of breast milk.

In response to this, Heathrow Airport responded back to Milano, saying that they have to stick to their rules on carrying only 100ml of liquids for the flight and even provided a link to their website to clarify the airport’s rules and regulations.

But Milano pointed out that after going through security, she again pumped around 5 ounces of breast milk and managed to bring it aboard. In addition to this, a portable Medela breast pump she brought along with her baggage was missing, though she already filed a lost baggage claim.
