Amanda Bynes was put  on a 72-hour involuntary hold in a Pasadena treatment facility on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, after displaying erratic behavior over the past few weeks. The former Nickelodeon star, 28, was led to believe that a chauffer was driving her from the airport to her lawyer’s office in Los Angeles but was instead taken to Las Encinas Hospital. Her parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes, planned this along with the family lawyer Tamar Arminak, since they felt that the actress would refuse to get psychiatric help.

Rumors that the actress had schizophrenia surfaced last year, when Bynes started exhibiting bizarre behavior. She called numerous celebrities “ugly” on her Twitter account, had her cheeks pierced, threw a bong out her apartment window and set fire to an unidentified woman’s driveway. She was also reportedly seen talking to machines and other inanimate objects in a gym she used to frequent.

The actress was committed to a treatment center, after which the court put her under a conservatorship and appointed her parents as guardians. The actress moved back in with them and seemed to make recovery. Her parents blamed her odd behavior on marijuana use.

However, the actress left her parents’ home when the conservatorship ended, and she started getting into trouble once again. Last month, Bynes was charged for a DUI. She was also accused of shoplifting.

Moreover, Bynes was recorded on camera grinding on her bodyguard in a department store as he was removing her fanny pack. She tweeted accusations that her father had molested her as a child. Then she took them back, stating that her father put a microchip in her brain that made her tweet the allegations.

“We are disturbed beyond words that Amanda would come up with such a fabrication as a way to avoid getting much needed help or treatment,” the actress’ siblings told People.

Bynes’ 72-hour hold expires on Monday afternoon. The hospital will determine if they have reason to keep her at the facility for an extended period.
