Usually, viewers and fans only become part of a television show’s future when it comes to ratings for various TV networks. However, Amazon is different, as it utilizes an interactive way of deciding which of its original shows will continue on to become a series. The streaming service  ask people to view their pilots, and to comment, and to help them pick which one will be given the ‘greenlight’. They have been doing this since early 2013, and now, according to Amazon Studios’ official blog, Hollywonk, the third wave of pilots is on its way. Read on to learn more about the story.

According to Hollywonk, Amazon Studios will be releasing the pilots of five new pilots on Thursday, August 28, 2014. These five pilots will be up for a month, allowing viewers and customers to watch, rate and comment on them. The feedback that the viewers and customers give will be the basis as to which one among its five pilots will ultimately be picked up to become a series.

Variety reported that Amazon is pulling out all the stops for the production of their new projects against other platforms with original digital content, such as Netflix and Hulu. Their biggest rival is Netflix, the company that currently airs two original series, “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black. Both series are vying for awards in the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards. In line with this, the company will spend more than $100 million for both the production of pilots, and the production of series, for the third quarter of this year.

The five new pilots which are waiting to be tested by the waiting public include: “Hand of God,” which tells the story of a judge turned vigilante in his quest for vengeance; “Hysteria,” which is about a neurologist who goes back to her hometown in Texas in order to investigate a physio-psychological illness that spreads through social media; “Really,” which is a comedy centering around a group of friends in suburban Chicago; “Red Oaks,” which is a coming of age story about life set in a country club during the 1980s; and “The Cosmopolitans,” which centers around a group of young American expatriates in Paris.

And that’s all for now on the five new pilots of Amazon’s third pilot season and the release dates of the pilots. For more news and updates on upcoming shows, keep on following Movie News Guide (MNG).
