Bryan was named the American Country Countdown Awards’ male vocalist of the year after he performed his hit song “Roller Coaster.” Bryan was accompanied to the ceremony by his 13-year-old nephew Til. The kid is actually the son of Cheshire and Bryan's late sister Kelly. Luke delivered a moving speech while accepting his award.
“I wanna get serious just for a second. I wanna thank all of my fans — for the past couple of weeks of my life — for keeping my family in your prayers. And I wanna also recognize the country music community.” Bryan said in his speech, which was shared by ET Online.
Thanks everyone. Awesome night.

“Hey, fans let me explain something to you. You guys support wonderful artists because they have rallied around me and helped me and my family through the past couple of weeks. It’s nice to feel loved in a situation. Just thank you, guys, for an amazing 2014. We love you, Nashville. We love you, fans,” continued Bryan in his acceptance speech.
According to ET Online, Ben Lee Cheshire is Bryan's brother-in-law. He passed away from unknown causes on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014. Kelly, Chesire's wife and Bryan's sister, passed away suddenly in 2007 at age 39. His older brother Chris also died in a car accident when the singer was just 19.
ET Online also reported that Bryan didn't attend the CMA Artists of the Year special last Dec. 2, 2014. He spent time after Cheshire's death. In the end, he mustered courage to perform, accept his trophies and thank his supporting fans at the ACCAs.
Bryan recorded the song “Drink a Beer” in remembrance of his late siblings. “Drink a Beer” was performed by Lady Antebellum and Chris Stapleton at the CMT Artist of the Year Awards on Dec. 2, 2014 in Cheshire’s homage and Bryan’s nonattendance.
