“American Idol” 2014 also known as “American Idol XIII” is back on its 19th episode (air date: Thursday, March 13, 2014) with the Top 11 results. After the Top 11 finalists sang songs from the cinema, including “Let It Go” (“Frozen), “Skyfall,” “Make You Feel My Love” (“Hope Floats”) and “Decode” (“Twilight”), America voted on who they wanted to stay in the Top 10. Read on to find out what happens in “American Idol” 2014 or AI Season 13 Episode 19 as the Top 11 finalists waited for the voters’ verdict on who stays and who moves on to the next round in Fox’s popular reality singing competition.
A brief recap of the Top 11 finalists’ performances was shown with former “American Idol” judge turned in-house mentor Randy Jackson commenting on what was good about them and what they could still improve on.
But, before the final revelation on who gets eliminated, “American Idol XIII” judge Harry Connick, Jr. treated the audience to an amazing performance of his songs “One Fine Thing” and “Come By Me.” He also showed off his piano skills.
Plus, his biggest fan Munfarid Zaidi, who was eliminated earlier in the competition, made another appearance to sing a song as Harry cradled him again in his arms.
Zaidi has a really nice voice which prompted Harry to ask him why he wasn’t in the competition now.
“Why are you not in Hollywood, you are fantastic!” said Harry.
Aside from Harry and Zaidi’s performance, Mali Music also sang “Beautiful” to the delight of the crowd. Jennifer Lopez is a huge fan of Mali Music and she was instrumental in bringing him to the attention of “American Idol” fans.
The Top 11 finalists also imitated “American Idol” judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. They tried to speak with an Australian accent, wear a wig to look like Jennifer and relive Harry’s memorable comments using words and phrases that are fit for a music nerd.
And, a sneak peek of the music video of “I Luh Ya PaPi” by Jennifer Lopez was also shown.
After all the show’s performances for the night, it was back to reality as the Top 11 waited for the final results of the night.
The bottom three are:
1. Ben Briley
2. Majesty Rose
3. Sam Woolf
Ben Briley got the sad news that he was the one who has to go. He had to sing for a chance to be saved by the three judges. However, their decision was not unanimous so he had to go home. What’s even sadder is that he won’t get to tour with the other finalists because only the Top 10 will be able to do that.
“Ben we love your voice, but we wanna see artistic growth,” said Urban to Briley as stated in Entertainment Weekly’s own recap.
Urban also tweeted Briley an encouraging message:
