In Mali, North Africa, Sergeant Odelle Ballard (Anna Friel) and Aslam (Omar Ghazaoui) kept a low profile. They traveled with a caravan to Timbuktu. Later, as they ate, Odelle told Aslam that in Timbuktu, she would connect with Colonel Stephen Glen (Treat Williams), who would help her from there.
The next morning, Harrison Wells (Jake Robinson) got kicked out of his girlfriend’s apartment. He asked for her help to find Bob Offer (Nate Mooney), who had gone missing, and who was the only one who had definitive proof that Odelle was alive. He then asked a friend of his, Russell (Matthew Delamater), to help him out. They needed Bob’s email for the protest that night and was given the address to Bob’s mother’s apartment in Brooklyn.
Meanwhile, Peter Decker (Peter Facinelli) met up with a friend of his at the Attorney General’s office who told him to get more substantial proof in order to bring the matter to the higher ups.
A little bit later, Harrison, who discovered that Bob wasn’t home, tried to hack into Bob’s computer to no avail. Later, Harrison had Russell set up some media coverage for the night’s protest.
In Mali, the entire group set up camp for the night. They were disturbed by the shouts of the Ansar Dine, who had caught up with them, and were trying to harass them, the Tuareg, from a distance. As the cries of a boy who had been hit by his father in the head disturbed them all, Odelle decided to give him some medicine to quiet him down. The next morning, the boy’s abusive father got mad at her. While she was washing her face, and knocked off her turban, which revealed that she was an American woman. Because of that, Aslam tried to strangle him to death. Odelle ended up snapping his neck before they moved on again.
Meanwhile, back in the Ballard household, Suzanne Ballard (Sadie Sink), became upset that her father believed that Odelle was dead as she, Suzanne, believed that she was still alive.
As soon as Peter got back to the office, he was surprised to learn from Joe Abrams (Darren Goldstein) that they were no longer going to merge with Societelle. As all of Societelle’s files were being moved out, Peter managed to stop the clerks from moving everything out. He did so he could photocopy the files before they discovered what he had done. He was then summoned to his boss’ office. He agreed to help arrange a meeting between Tsaldari and the CEO of Societelle.
Meanwhile, together with Ruby Simms (Daniella Pineda), who revealed that she was just a freelance reporter, Harrison managed to track down Bob to a police station where he had been detained as he was a G8 protestor. Bob then promised to email the file to Harrison before he left. However, during the entire time Harrison talked to him, Bob was clearly scared of Ruby, who often threw him threatening and warning glances.
Later that night, as the protest began, Peter was arrested for the murder of Gentry. His lawyer managed to sort everything out, but after returning home, Peter discovered that all of the files he had photocopied from Societelle had gone missing. Because of this, he went out for a run and discovered that he was being followed by a man in a black car.
Meanwhile, Suzanne went to the protest without her dad knowing in order to witness for herself that her mother was alive. However, during the moment of truth, everyone was greeted by a video of a cat playing the piano, instead of the file. As the police moved in, Bob, who answered Harrison’s call, apologized to him as he deleted the file from his computer.
In Mali, everyone looked at Odelle. It was after she expertly unarmed the boy whom she had given medicine to, as he started to harass them as he was looking for his father. Because of this, the entire group converged on her and discovered that she was the American that the Ansar Dine had been looking for. However, before she could be stoned to death, the Ansar Dine, led by Aslam, took her away. Aslam then begged to join them so that he could watch out for her.
