“American Ultra” was rejected by the fans and it couldn’t even make it to the top five at the box office in the opening weekend. The movie also received discouraging reviews and none was seen clamoring for it more. However, writer Max Landis is confident of the sequel.
In a candid talk with The Daily Beast, Landis said that his mind is already working on the “American Ultra” sequel and he will make the character of Stewart an action-movie badass by putting it at the front and center.
However, he didn’t hesitate to tell that “American Ultra” didn’t have enough money to make a sequel, but revealed that if it was ever made then it would be an action-movie starring the “Twilight” star. It will be Stewart against everyone, however, it’s a dream, he added.
In its debut, “American Ultra” managed to make only $5.5 million dollars, positioning itself in sixth place at the box office. Notably, the movie, which was produced at a $28 million budget, had a strong star cast – Kristen Stewart, Walton Goggins, Jesse Eisenberg, Bill Pullman, Topher Grace, Connie Britton and John Leguizamo.
While it is difficult to predict anything more right now, but the movie getting a big enough fanbase may be possible if it attracts the home video market. And if it happens then we can really expect to get graced by the “American Ultra 2.”
