Fans of “The Americans” on FX will be seeing more of Arkady Ivanovich in the upcoming third season as the show has just promoted actor Lev Gorn, who plays the KGB spy, to series regular. Read on for more details about this news story.

Lev Gorn, who has been part of “The Americans” in a semi-regular capacity from the beginning, has been given more air time and challenges as an actor, as he has been promoted to series regular according to a report from Deadline. The actor, who is Russian in real life, plays the KGB resident Arkady Ivanovich in the series, who works at the Soviet Embassy in the United States. Ivanovich works closely with Nina Sergeevna, the double agent working as an FBI informant.

Gorn has also snagged a recurring guest appearance in the CBS series “NCIS,” where he will play Anton Yelic, the Russian Deputy Ambassador. Deadline also reported that this role may eventually crossover to the spinoff series, “NCIS: New Orleans.”

The actor has been quite active on American television even before being cast in the supporting role on “The Americans.” He can be seen in shows like “The Wire” (2003) as Eton Ben Eleazer, appearing in several episodes such “Undertow,” “Bad Dreams” and “Storm Warnings”; “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (2003) as SWAT shooter McKenzie in the episode “Escape”; “Brotherhood” (2006) as Pravsha Pishenkov in the episode “Matthew 5:6”; and “Third Watch” (2005) as Kirt Lang in the episode “The Kitchen Sink.”

He also appeared in daytime dramas like “All My Children” (2004) as Miles and “As the World Turns” (2006).

The actor was part of the movie “Once Upon a Time in Queens,” a mafia drama starring Paul Sorvino and directed by Dave Rodriguez.

“The Americans,” which was renewed for a third season last April, will be returning to FX in the spring of 2015. The show centers on CIA and KGB activities during President Ronald Reagan’s era in the 1980s and stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys.
