Angelina Jolie is unlikely to star in the sequel of “Maleficent,” the Robert Stromberg’s million dollar grosser Disney movie. Read on to know more.
Angelina Jolie, in an interview, said that she had not yet received an official letter from the director for the sequel. There is a strong enthusiasm present amongst the fans of Jolie as they waits for the confirmation from the actor’s side. Sources quoted that Jolie’s role as a maleficent did not die in the movie and that there are chances of her presence as the lead. Even the return of the “Maleficent” production designer Robert Stromberg is unsure, CrossMap reported.
The American dark fantasy movie by Robert Stromberg had crashed the box office with $758 million dollars worldwide. This movie is a twist to the story of “Sleeping Beauty” where the story is told from the perception of the antagonist, Maleficent, VentureCapitalPost cited.
It is also said that the screen writer of this film Linda Woolverton is in for the second round. Rumour has it that Woolverton has been updating Jolie on the script of “Maleficent 2,” but the official confirmation is yet to be paged. There has been much apprehension in the entertainment world regarding Jolie’s consent, as this Oscar winning actor has turned down sequels of “SALT” and “Wanted”.
Much to our disbelief, this actor-director had in a press review opined that she enjoys directing more than acting. And that she could let go of her acting career for a directing one. However, there are certain commitments that Jolie needs to fulfil before she plans her retirement from the silver screen. “By The Sea,” starring her husband Brad Pitt is on her list to be completed. Her directorial debut was marked by “Unbroken”. The series of uncertainties leads to one certain thing that the sequel will be produced by Robert Stromberg and Jolie together.
We can only hope such rumors are not true. As for the role of Maleficent no one can top Angelina Jolie.
