Veteran animators Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly have been taken aboard to co-direct a CG-animated 3D movie based on the hugely successful game, Angry Birds.
Sony Pictures and Rovio Entertainment are really excited over their inclusion. Kaytis has given more than 19 years of his life to Disney and has served as an animation supervisor on Tangled and an animator on Wreck-It Ralph. Kaytis is also working on Disney’s upcoming movie Frozen as well. Reilly on the other hand has been with Sony Animation since 2003 and have served on films such as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Hotel Transylvania. He has also acted as lead storyboard artist on Spider-Man 2 and The Iron Giant.
“I’m very excited that Fergal and Clay have joined us, bringing with them their vast expertise,” said Rovio Entertainment CEO Mikael Hed. “They are two of the brightest rising talents in animation, and I’m confident we are building the right team to tell the story of Angry Birds and deliver an amazing movie experience to our fans.”
Angry Birds, the movie has been announced to hit theaters on July 1, 2016, provided everything goes smoothly and there are no delays.
