Having a baby in the house can be challenging. Babies are curious by nature, so parents have to be extra careful, and baby proofing is a must to avoid accidents. According to BabyCenter, choking is one of the common childhood emergencies. Thus, efforts and campaigns have been released so parents will be well-informed of the hazards of choking in babies.
St. John Ambulance UK released a very informative animated video which aims to teach parents the correct technique to save a choking baby in 40 seconds. It was posted on YouTube on Jan. 10, 2015 with the hashtag #TheChokeables. It features the voices of actors David Mitchell, Johnny Vegas, David Walliams and Sir John Hurt. The ad sent a serious message via a humorous approach as the video shows a talking baby-shaped jelly candy, a pen lid, a princess doll and a peanut. The four showed how to save a choking baby correctly.
The video was released in response to a St. John’s Ambulance research, which shows that about 79 percent of the parents do not know how to save a baby from choking. The Chokeables campaign has been shared in many social media platforms and has been getting positive feedback and support from netizens, as shown in Shortify and Facebook. St. John Ambulance is hoping the campaign will help spread awareness and save more young lives.
