Annabelle: Creation trailer dropped just a few days back. The doll that caused havoc in the previous Conjuring movies, will now get its own origin story.
The trailer conveniently highlights the reason behind the pure evil that Annabelle is. And much like every horror story, it is connected to an innocent victim. Here are some of the noteworthy things about the trailer.
Doll maker’s daughter
The trailer starts with a doll maker, creating the toy that everyone would later know as Annabelle. Annabelle is actually his deceased daughter who was taken away from them at a very young age.
As an innocent little child, she jumped in front of a car and died. Not wanting to leave her parents, she makes a request to the doll maker and his wife that her spirit be allowed to stay in one of the dolls created by him.
Since parents also seem emotional about not wanting to lose their daughter, they granted her request, not realizing what kind of evil they were getting themselves into.
There seems to be no problem in the house until the doll maker and his wife opened their home to an orphanage made up of young girls. They can be seen getting out of a van and moving into the top most floor of the house.
One of the girls named Janice, who is crippled, becomes Annabelle’s target. In the beginning of the trailer, the doll maker warns her not to open the door of his dead daughter’s room.
There are two possibilities, either he wants to maintain his deceased daughter’s privacy or he is purposely hiding the fact that he and his wife let the spirit of their dead daughter stay inside a doll he made.
When young Janice does make the mistake of opening Annabelle’s room, she happens to come across her spirit. It only takes a fraction of a second for fans to realize what kind of evil should they expect as the little dead girl unleashes her evil in front of Janice, scaring the life out of her.
Annabelle becomes obsessed with her. Despite the fact that Janice informs the nun about what the evil spirit is trying to do, the nun does not seem to believe her.
Things start to get really creepy after her first encounter with Janice. She starts to hunt everyone and does not want any kind of outsiders living with her parents.
Everyone, including Annabelle’s mother, gets to witness the evil in her sweet little daughter and it is perhaps then that things start to really unwind. Everyone looks dead scared except for the doll maker who still probably believes in his daughter’s good nature.
In a very similar fashion to the other Conjuring movies, destruction begins as the Devil is unleashed and everyone has to keep themselves safe from the evil spirit.
Unfortunately, since the story is based around the time when the doll was first made, the Warrens are not present to do the exorcism. Instead of the paranormal investigators, a priest from a nearby church is asked to do so.
Since the movie is a prequel to Annabelle and the fourth movie in the Conjuring universe, hopefully this one will explain how the evil doll end up getting passed to other families who have been a victim of it in the same universe.
Mirror reported that the trailer describes the creepy doll’s origin story. According to the outlet, the doll maker makes the doll following his daughter’s death. However, after some orphans and a nun move into their home, they all become a target of the possessed doll.
Annabelle: Creation will release this year on Aug. 11.
