The classic musical fantasy “Mary Poppins” is under remake, a recent announcement made by Disney revealed that the classic animation is under development. As the news broke on social media it created a stir of who will be carrying the great legacy of Julie Andrews who played the role of magical loving woman Mary Poppins. It is speculated that “Rachel Getting Married” star Anne Hathaway will be playing the iconic role. Read on to find out more.
According to ET Online, veteran actor Robert De Niro said that, while they announced the making of “Mary Poppins,” Hathaway clicked in his mind saying she is the best and most appropriate choice for the role. To which Hathaway responded that there has been no official talk about it as of now.
Instead, some think “Devil Wears Prada” co-star Emily Blunt is also a competitor for the same role. The “Interstellar” star think Blunt will possibly get the role. Further mentioning she added that not sure of Mary Poppins but she definitely wishes to appear in “Trainwreck” sequel.
“Mary Poppins” will be back on silver screen with a renovated avatar after 20 long years. It will be directed by “Chicago” director Rob Marshall and is developed by Disney in collaboration with John DeLuca and Marc Platt as producers. The movie is said to feature new songs and score which is created by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. There is nothing revealed about when the movie will reach out to thetheatre.
