It looks like Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) still has a few arrows to spare to be able to help Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) in Ant-Man and the Wasp. According to rumors, the resident archer of the Avengers will join the anticipated superhero sequel.
Marvel’s connected cinematic universe allows one superhero to crossover to another superhero’s solo movie. In the case of the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, the God of Thunder will once again grace the big screen alongside Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch).
Rudd’s anticipated follow-up to the 2015 hit Ant-Man will also not be short of superhero guest appearances. If the first movie had Anthony Mackie reprising his role as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Ant-Man and the Wasp will have Clint Barton also known as Hawkeye.
The rumor comes from Showbiz411 which claims that Renner will not return for Mission Impossible 6 because he will be too busy in the next few months filming in Atlanta. The actor has signed up to star alongside his fellow Avengers in the upcoming Infinity War. He also reportedly will be present in the still-untitled fourth Avengers movie. Moreover, Renner will also be seen kicking some serious butt in Ant-Man’s next adventure on the big screen.
Scott Lang has already met Clint Barton when they fought alongside each other in Captain America: Civil War. Needless to say, their partnership would be quite awesome.

The site did not say how big the actor’s role will be in the upcoming movie. Mackie’s appearance in Ant-Man lasted a few minutes in the middle and then a few seconds in the end-credits. However, if Renner is missing Mission Impossible 6 for Ant-Man and the Wasp, it is safe to hope that he will have a bigger role in Rudd’s movie.
This also means that Hawkeye will not be among the first casualties in the big battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin) as many has suspected. At least, not in the first movie.
Michael Pena Returns
Meanwhile, Michael Pena has clarified that he will return in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Arguably the best part of the 2015 hit, fans were quite disappointed when the actor revealed that he has not heard back from Marvel about Luis’ return in the upcoming sequel.
While doing press rounds for his new comedy movie CHIPS, the actor confirmed that he will reprise his role for the 2018 movie. After all, he currently has a multi-picture deal with Marvel and it would be a waste not to use his character’s hilarious storytelling technique in more movies.

Not much is known about the upcoming movie. Aside from Rudd, Lilly and Pena, Michael Douglas is also expected to return to the role of Hank Pym, the first Ant-Man.
It will also feature Hope’s debut as The Wasp. In a previous interview with Moviefone, director Peyton Reed promised to deliver exciting things in the sequel. While he did not get the chance to be the first to unveil Giant-Man (which was already shown in Captain America: Civil War), he does get to debut The Wasp in the MCU.
“Well, I’m just personally excited to get to introduce yet another character into the Marvel Universe,” He stated. “[D]esigning her look, the way she moves, the power set, and figuring out, sort of, who Hope van Dyne is as a hero […] that’s exciting.”
Expect to hear more information about Ant-Man and the Wasp soon. The Marvel movie from Reed will start filming in Atlanta this summer. It will land on the big screen on July 6, 2018.
