It seems that Peyton Reed, the helmer of 2015’s movie “Ant Man,” has started planning for the sequel seriously, as news related to Adam McKay’s name for writing the script for the upcoming movie is coming into the picture. Last month, it was confirmed that the sequel for the movie is coming under the title “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” Read for more details.
Adam McKay was one of the persons attached to the screenplay team of the “Ant Man” which was the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s twelfth project. Recently, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, McKay hinted towards returning to write the second project of the franchise.
He said, “I was talking to [Paul] Rudd about it the other day. We’ll see what happens, but that would certainly be fun. I loved working with Marvel. And I have a couple of projects in development. One of them is more dramatic, one’s more comedy, still with a little bit of political teeth to it. And there’s a TV show idea I’ve been kicking around.”
Well, it is not confirmed yet that McKay, who is famous for writing comedies, will return and take full charge for the upcoming “Ant Man” franchise, but one thing is clear that he has enough time to decide for the same. Even though McKay is busy in other projects, this offer is also a really good opportunity for him. But here his preference matters a lot- whether he will prefer an action film over comedy or not?
Everything now is just starting for this second movie and announcements related to the cast and crews, who and who not boarding the franchise will come later.
The first movie of the franchise was produced by Marvel Studios and its distribution side was handled by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. As for now, the same process will happen with the upcoming movie as well which is scheduled for July 6, 2018 release. So, till date we have to wait and stick to this place for more updates.
