In an appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Anthony Mackie, who played the Falcon on “Captain America: Winter Soldier,” confirms his return for the third installment “Civil War.” Read on for more details on this story.
“I’m back! You can’t get rid of me that easily. If I got one wing, I’m coming back,” Mackie told Jimmy Fallon, confirming his return as the Falcon in “Captain America: Civil War.” This seems to indicate that the whole support cast from “Winter Soldier” will be returning, as directors, the Russo Brothers Anthony and Joe confirmed Scarlett Johansson’s return as the Black Widow in the third installment.
Mackie went on to share stories about how he signed posters at a Michaels craft store, which he thought people would buy, instead ended up buying all of them himself. Check out his interview with Fallon below.
“Civil War” will bring together heroes from Marvel’s franchise in a story, which will divide the superhero community. Based on Marvel’s storyline of “Civil War,” heroes will be pit against fellow heroes in a clash of ideals regarding the Superhero Registration Act, a legislative bill that will require mandatory registration of all superheroes, revealing their identities to the US government. Good-intentioned superheroes will soon find themselves divided upon conflicting sides — those who fully support the Superhero Registration Act, the Pro-Registration, led by Iron Man; and those who are opposed against the Registration Act, the Anti-Registration, who rally under the banner of Captain America. The events of the series touch upon the themes of liberty, moral responsibility and civil order.
Along with Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman is set to appear as Black Panther, Frank Grillo to return as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones and Mackie to return as the Falcon. “Captain America: Civil War” is set to hit the screens on May 6, 2016.
