Things almost got feisty at KIIS FM Jingle Ball in Los Angeles on Dec. 6, when Ariana Grande dissed Selena Gomez for using a backing track!
It’s been reported that Ariana experienced many of the same sound issues that Selena faced earlier and which also revealed that the “Come & Get It” singer was lip-syncing. The conditions were so bad that Ariana had to sing more than half of her first song without the proper audio but Ariana avoided lip-syncing, and didn’t end up causing another embarrassing display.
And then shockingly Ariana threw salt in Selena’s wound, when she couldn’t hold anything back, and told the audience, “At least you know I wasn’t singing to a track.”
It could just be taken as a throwaway line. But being a good friend of Selena’s ex, Justin Bieber, and technically a rival to Selena, it feels like Ariana’s statement is targeted.
After her harsh words, Ariana was taken to the Twitter to clear the air. After the show, she tweeted: “Ohhh jesus. I wasn’t throwing shade AT ALL I didn’t even see anyone else’s set. I was sick backstage that’s why I didn’t even do the carpet.”
“I was just cracking a joke cause my mic was off. Everyone had tech difficulties. Sorry if it was taken the wrong way it wasn’t my intention!” Ariana added.
Ariana takes the benefit of the doubt here.
Do you think Ariana did it intentionally to diss Selena Gomez? And, will this new pop star feud stretch out? Let us know in the comments below!
