“Arrow” Season 4 Episode 9 “Dark Waters” is the mid-season finale for the show. It will air next Wednesday, December 9, at 8:00 p.m. on The CW. After the epic crossover episode this week, one would think that nothing could get crazier or bigger for Team Arrow. However, it turns out that one of their biggest enemies for this season, Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), has just been biding his time and is ready to unleash everything that he’s got to get at Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell).

WARNING: This article will contain spoilers for the upcoming mid-season finale of the fourth season.

After defeating one epic villain, one would expect that Team Arrow would be able to get some respite from their usual superheroic antics in order to concentrate and focus on Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) mayoral campaign. However, as it turns out, regardless of what persona he dons, Oliver the mayoral candidate and Oliver the Green Arrow are both targets for one Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough). The said big bad is determined to get rid of the only opposition he has in the mayoral elections.

It should be noted that Dahrk, after Oliver announced his intent to run for mayor, approached Oliver and suggested that they should work together. He also warned Oliver to stay away from the beach that he wanted to clean up as part of his campaign. He also warned the Arrow alter-ego that if Oliver was bent on running for mayor, Dahrk would try to stop him.

It seems as if Dahrk has not forgotten this promise. He is seen in the promotional videos and in the promotional photos posted on TV Line stepping up his game, big time.

The episode’s trailer on Entertainment Weekly and the promotional videos posted on Spoiler TV all show Dahrk ordering his men to attack Oliver’s beach clean-up campaign. Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) were also in attendance.

Thanks to this attack, Oliver decides to go on the news and tell the entire city that Dahrk had been the one behind the attack. Enraged, Dahrk retaliates by crashing Oliver’s campaign holiday party, where Felicity and Thea Queen (Willa Holland) look very shocked and worried.

This reaction from the two might be because Oliver was knocked out by Dahrk’s magic. The rest of them, all of those whom Oliver held dear, were kidnapped as Dahrk believes that “the best way to teach someone a lesson is through punishment.”

As if this weren’t enough, Oliver is then forced to watch as Felicity is dragged towards a clear glass chamber, with some sort of gas flowing in. Oliver then watches in horror as the woman he loves tells him that she loves him very much.

Still based on the promotional pictures mentioned earlier, it looks like only two characters managed to get a little slice of holiday cheer. A picture of Captain Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) and Donna Smoak (Charlotte Ross) are seen happily dancing together.

Do you think that this episode will seal Felicity’s fate forever? Will Malcolm Merlyn suddenly appear and help Oliver out of his desperate situation? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
