‘Arrow’ Recap: ‘Brotherhood’

“Arrow” Season 4 Episode 7 “Brotherhood” aired last Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. on the CW. In this episode, another encounter with HIVE’s Ghosts caused John Diggle (David Ramsey) to make a shocking discovery, one that Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and the others refused to let go.  Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) tried to stall as much as possible to stay “dead” while Thea Queen (Willa Holland) made an interesting discovery that might help solve her bloodlust problem.  Meanwhile, on Lian Yu, Oliver was able to enlist Taiana’s (Elysia Rotaru) help in order to help him discover what Baron Reiter (Jimmy Akingbola) was truly up to there. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with the entire team fighting off a number of HIVE’s Ghosts. They were determined to burn some money that was coming into the city to help start up the city’s bank.

During the fight, Thea Queen (Willa Holland) noticed that her bloodlust was returning.

Afterwards, John Diggle (David Ramsey) revealed to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) what he had just learned about his brother, Andy Diggle (Eugene Byrd).

Meanwhile, at Oliver’s and Felicity Smoak’s (Emily Bett Rickards) apartment, while Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) helped the team figure out how HIVE managed to scramble the DNA of their men, based on the tooth sample that they had, Felicity pestered him to come back from the dead and to take control of Palmer Tech again.

Ray then told them to get a particular chemical compound sample from Wolfman Biologics. They were assaulted by several Ghosts, including one that turned out to be Diggle’s brother, Andy.

Because of this, and despite everything that they now knew, the entire team told Diggle that they wanted to help him save Andy, something that he was having a hard time agreeing to.

Later that night, at the Patrolman’s Benevolent Association Gala, Captain Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) informed Oliver that Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) was beginning to question his loyalty, and told him that something was going to be happening soon at a particular area at the docks.

Later on, Darhk himself went to Oliver and offered his support in exchange for Oliver ditching his plan to clean up Star City’s bay. He then began to consider getting into bed with Dahrk, but Felicity advised him not to.

Meanwhile, Thea went on a date with campaign manager Alex Davis (Parker Young), and took out her bloodlust on a man who began to hit on her while Alex took a call, as her bloodlust was returning in full force, just as her father, Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), who was currently in Star City, had warned her about.

Oliver and Diggle then tried to go after Darhk and Andy at the docks.

There, they saw Darhk was giving his men pills in order to make them more susceptible to his suggestions, and Andy tried to have them, particularly Oliver, killed.

Back at the Arrow cave, Diggle told Oliver not to go after Andy anymore, and advised him to fight Darhk in the “light of day”, and not by working in the shadows by going undercover in HIVE.

Back at the apartment, Ray revealed to Felicity that he still had to figure some things out, and discovered that the Ghosts were staying at an abandoned psychiatric facility.

There, the team, minus Diggle, began to fight the Ghosts off, with Thea managing to tranquilize Andy. Ray, in his ATOM suit, showed up to help Oliver fight off the other Ghosts, and then helped Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) carry back Andy to the Arrow cave.

Meanwhile, Oliver welcomed an assist from Diggle, and Thea, who had been confronted by Darhk, discovered that his powers don’t work on her and that going against him actually helped relieve some of her bloodlusts.

Later, Thea called her father in and after telling him what had happened, asked for help in the matter so that she would rid herself of the bloodlust forever.

Afterwards, Diggle confronted Andy, who told him that he was a criminal kingpin, and Oliver defiantly announced his intention to push through with his project to clean up Star City Bay.

Ray then told Felicity that he had decided to go off on his own for a while, in order to figure out what else he could do to help the world, and told them to call him if they needed any help.

Meanwhile, the flashbacks to Lian Yu revealed that the man that Conklin (Ryan Robbins) had sent after Oliver, and whom he had killed was actually the brother of the woman, Taiana (Elysia Rotaru), whom he had helped save.

Oliver then managed to get back into Baron Reiter’s (Jimmy Akingbola) good graces and told Taiana that he needed her help to get a more detailed map of the island, as he had stolen a map from Reiter that showed him what Reiter was truly after.
