Ashton Irwin of “5 Seconds of Summer,” and Harry Styles of “One Direction,” opens up about their personal life as they share how they cope up with accepting their parent’s divorce.
They may seem playful and manly enough to face any problems in life, but these two dudes, Styles, 21, and Irwin, 21, from the two of the most popular band group in the town had also experienced being in an emotional breakdown because of having a broken home.
These two young music lovers may have been raised in two different sides of the world, but there’s one thing they can share to each other that no one else from their band can really understand—having a broken family. Irwin and Styles both grew up without having a mom and dad in one home, they moved between their parents and witnessed how messy divorces really are.
In an interview, Desmond Styles, opened up about how hard it is when he needs to broke the news to his children. Unreality TV cited also that Des admitted that he was gutted when he told them that he was leaving their home. He said that Harry was only seven-year-old when his parents got divorced. He recalled that everybody was in tears when he told them the news.
“We were sitting in the lounge. Gemma and Harry were sitting on the floor in front of us, Anne and I on the sofa, and both of them were crying.”
Harry Styles, on the other hand, did not deny any of his past painful memories. He even openly said that when he knew about his parent’s split, he remembered himself crying over it. He was only seven when he watched his father walked out from their home for good two years later.
“When my mum and dad divorced it was quite a weird time. I remember crying about it – I was sad that they wouldn’t be together anymore.”
Meanwhile, in Ashton Irwin’s case, the singer revealed in his Top Of The Pops magazine interview that when his parent’s broken up, he was totally shocked and he thinks it made him become mature so fast.
The effect of his parent’s divorce forced him to act more like an adult and was really ready to leave his childhood behind.
“My parents split when I was younger. It can be scary and I think you’ve got to grow up a lot faster than you should,” Irwin recalled.
Well, even though our beloved singers are both from a broken family, it seems like it does not affect totally their whole lives and instead it sounds like it even helped them cope up with much more heavy problems that they can face now that they are an adult.
On the other hand, Irwin recently expressed also his opinion about his band’s luck. He openly said that he thinks 5SOS never really made it even after winning big last MTV Video Music Awards.
The drummer also shared his cool idea of being able to buy a tour submarine for the band.
On the bus to the next city, When does my band get to buy a tour submarine, now that would be a "mum I made it" moment if there ever was one
