The Philippines is no stranger to conventions which allow fans to unite and revel in their favorite popular culture fandoms, from Asian Entertainment and anime, to science fiction favorites such as “Star Wars,” to video games like “Final Fantasy,” and of course, to comics and superhero movies. However, The Philippines has never seen the likes of big conventions such as the ones held in San Diego or New York. Thankfully, this year, the country’s capital is bracing themselves for a star-studded convention which will happen this weekend, from Sept. 17 to 20, 2015, called Asia Pop Comic Con. It will not only feature local and international celebrities and entertainers, but will also feature a special screening of never before seen footage of the highly anticipated film, MARVEL’s “Captain America: Civil War.” Read on to learn more about the exclusive screening of “Captain America: Civil War,” and to learn more about what to expect during Asia Pop Comic Con.
Just like other countries, The Philippines is no stranger to popular culture conventions, which range from local comics conventions, to anime and Asian Entertainment-themed conventions, to conventions which celebrates all of those, and science fiction and international and popular comics and superhero based comics and movies.
However, this year, when it comes to popular culture based conventions, is quite a different year, as Universal Event Management, a holding of Ali Ahli Holding Group, has chosen the nation’s capital city, Metro Manila, to host Asia Pop Comic Con. According to the event’s official website, it will launch a series of Comic Conventions or Comic Cons which will also be held in Abu Dhabi, Korea, and the United States of America (U.S.A.)
The upcoming Asia Pop Comic Con will be held in Metro Manila this coming weekend, from Sept. 17 to 20, 2015, and will feature several international and local celebrities and entertainers, According to CNN Philippines and the official website of the event, will be launching an exclusive, never before seen trailer of the highly anticipated MARVEL film, “Captain America: Civil War” on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m
According to the show’s official schedule, not only will fans be able to witness the unveiling of the exclusive trailer in the Asia-Pacific region, fans will be able to learn a little bit more about the highly anticipated film which will kick off the Third Phase of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe, as none other than actor Paul Bettany, who portrays the Vision in both “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Captain America: Civil War”, will be holding a panel right after.
However, Bettany will not be the only MARVEL related actor to be featured at Asia Pop Comic Con, as a panel with “Agent Carter’s” Chad Michael Murray will happen on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
Aside from this, Colton Haynes, who is most popularly known for his role as Roy Harper in DC Entertainment’s and the CW’s “Arrow,” will also have a panel on the same day; as well as “Game of Thrones’” and “Furious 7’s” Nathalie Emmanuel.
According to the official schedule of the event, several Filipino-based comic book artists, such as Leinil Yu, who is currently the penciller for the MARVEL “Secret Wars” event tie-in comic, “Civil War”; as well as other international comic book artists and writers, such as David Mack, whose work includes “Daredevil”, “Justice League of America” and “Green Arrow.”
Aside from this, Jeremy Shada, the voice behind Finn the Human, from the popular Cartoon Network show “Adventure Time,” along with his band, will also be present.
