Michael Fassbender’s first look from the “Assassin’s Creed” movie is finally here! Sporting the famous dual blades, Fassbender seems to be the perfect heir to the mantle of Ubisoft’s famous line of Assassins. Read on to find out more.
Fox recently released the look for Fassbender in the upcoming movie to Yahoo! with a small plot teaser for the upcoming film:
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Fassbender is really excited about the adaptation, having promised to bring something new to the mythology of the games. The image, however, is in tune with the game mythos, and the Irish-German actor is a perfect fit for the modern day assassin.
Marion Cotillard (Inception) has been confirmed as the female lead in the project. And helming the director’s seat is Justin Kurzel, who recently collaborated with Fassbender on the highly acclaimed big-screen version of Macbeth. As Movie News Guide already reported, the movie is going to be set during the Spanish Inquisition, and Fassbender will no doubt hack slash and ‘stealth-kill’ his way through Barcelona and Medina.
Production for the film has been plagued with delays and even a lover’s tiff, as Fassbender’s girlfriend Alicia Vikander left the project to join the new “Bourne” film with Matt Damon, Franchise Herald has reported. But shooting is now set to begin as of Monday in Malta, for the next “six to eight weeks.”
If all goes well, we can expect to see Fassbender jump into bales of hay from ridiculously improbable heights in “Assassin’s Creed” on Dec. 21, 2016.
