Assassin’s Creed is going for viral marketing strategy. The production crew has created a new gimmick to promote their movie. The film’s twitter account posted a single new tweet that told the people that the movie will be arriving exactly one year from today.
The tweet includes the image of the business card of “Alan Rikkin,” a character from the game series on which the movie is based. According to the game’s wikia, “Alan Rikkin is the chief executive officer of Abstergo Industries. He is also a member of the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order. He holds the position of Guardian within the Order, and answers directly to the General of the Cross.” Needless to say, Rikkin has overseen many nefarious operations and has ordered many interesting missions.
Gamespot reports that if you call the listed number on Rikkin’s card, you will hear a voicemail from Rikkin. “Hello, you’ve reached the voicemail of Alan Rikkin. I’ll be out of office on business through March 25th with extremely limited availability. Please excuse any delay in communication during this period as our team and I continue on Abstergo Industries’ mission to provide high quality products that enrich, entertain, and shape the lives of our customers. Your call is valuable, and I look forward to speaking with you upon my return,” the voicemail declares ominously.
If you write to the email address listed on the card, this is what you will get as a reply.
“Thank you for your email.
Please note that I will be traveling for business until March 25, 2016 with limited access to email. I apologize for any delay in communication and will respond promptly upon my return to the office.
For situations that require immediate assistance, please contact my assistant via phone (+34 911 98 0285 / 646-845-9162).
CEO, Abstergo Industries”
People at Comic Book .com have assumed from the cryptic messages that the full trailer for the movie will arrive on the 25th of March. So, fellow geeks, circle that date. It is the date on which the new Assassin’s Creed trailer arrives. It is also the date on which “Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice” will premiere in the movie theaters. So the date is doubly important.
How do we know all this? We called in and emailed Alan Rikkin. Yep, that’s what we did. Because we must investigate every lead and every source before we give you the news.
That and the fact that we have lots of time on our hands.
