Avatar 2 and its sequels are no doubt the highly anticipated films in the future. Sadly, the follow up for 2009 movie has not arrived yet. Though veteran director James Cameron is pretty occupied for the franchise, Sam Worthington revealed updates about the upcoming film.
According to Cinema Blend, production will finally start in late 2017. The 40-year-old actor recently read the script and he feels excited for what is ahead. It can be remembered that Worthington played the lead role of Jake Sully.
In an interview, the actor mentioned that production starts in summer. He also shared some details hinted about the next sequel. According to him, it will be tackling the new life of Jake with his Na’vi families.
Worthington revealed that he was able to read the scripts. The story picks up eights years later where his character already has a family. He believes that the upcoming film is something people have never seen before. The actor explained:
“The world is bigger than the first one. But essentially, it is a movie about family. Jake will still have that essence of a kid seeing the world for the first time. But he has been living in the world for a while now. So what is this world he is seeing now for the first time? The film will explore that within this family dynamic.”
This confirmed what Cameron mentioned in September. He called the second installment a family saga. That is because the story follows Jake and Neytiri having kids and how they will raise them.
Sam Worthington Talks Avatar 2 Release
Sam Worthington talks about the movie’s release. As people know, Worthington is currently promoting his new film titled The Shack, reports Den of Geek. It is an adaptation of William P. Young’s bestselling novel.
While he is on it, lots of questions were being asked about Cameron’s film. Worthington explained that the original plan was to have time in between the sequels. However, he shared that these kinds of things are inexact unless they start moving.
Meanwhile, a bunch of mysteries is yet to be discovered in Pandora. In the last film, Jake decided to stay in Pandora. Therefore, fans must watch out for more exploration that he will be doing in this new world.
Speculations say that Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang might return in the sequel. James Cameron definitely consumed plenty of time for perfecting the scripts. Avatar 2 will reportedly be released on Dec. 21, 2018.
