James Cameron’s sequel to the critically-acclaimed film Avatar will start production soon. The production crew and cast are all set to keep the cameras rolling this coming August. Fans can now relax and wait patiently for Avatar 2 that will be released way beyond its original release date.

After it was deferred, Cameron informed that the delay will eventually benefit the moviegoers because they are doing their best to ensure that no stones will be left unturned. The amazing director explained that he is not making a single sequel but a series of sequels that have linked stories. This has been one of the reasons for the delays.

Korea Portal reported that actors Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington gave bits of details on the actual date of the production. It can be recalled that Cameron informed that he has completed all the scripts not just for Avatar 2 but for the third, fourth and fifth films also.

Avatar 2 Promises To Feature A Never-See-Before World

But the film will be worth the wait as it will offer something that was never seen before and that includes movies from decades ago. They will feature a whole new world, revealed Worthington.

He also said that the sequel will take place eight long years after the events of the original film. He added that his character – Jake Sully will have a family. Worthington also blurted out that “Jake will still be like a kid in the sequel albeit that he has been on the planet for quite some time now.”

Zoe Saldana who plays the role of Neytiri in the first Avatar informed that she is already looking forward to the production in August. She also said that they are asking the fans’ understanding and patience because they want to give them the best. According to her, Cameron is a brilliant and perfectionist filmmaker.

James Cameron Explains Reason For Avatar 2 Delay

Fans might be wondering why the delay happened when the script and the cast are all set to film. According to Cameron, they are not only filming one sequel but all four at the same time. So, he has to finish preparation for everything up to the fifth film. It is good to know that he and his cast are all going full guns now, as reported by Movie Web.

Interestingly, Cameron revealed that he spent two years inside the “writing cave” just to be able to finish all the scripts. Right now, he said he was like “out of jail.” He is enjoying life now that everything about the stories has been ironed out.

In fairness to the director, he wants not just to equal the performance of Avatar but to surpass it if possible. The movie is still the highest-grossing film of all time leaving behind the Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet film Titanic. There is an enormous expectation on the film and Cameron wants to satisfy such expectations. Hopefully, Avatar 2 will surpass the $2.78 billion mark set by the first movie.

The movie’s original casts who are mostly reprising their roles are Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver and Sam Worthington. The film is set in the 22nd century and humans are already colonizing Pandora. It is a habitable moon of a gas giant located at the Alpha Centauri. It is a lush and rich world with an abundance of unobtanium which is why humans are subduing the place. The Na’vi, humanoid species living in Pandora, is being threatened by the invasion of the humans.

Barely five months from now, Avatar 2 cameras will be rolling and James Cameron will seldom leave his director’s seat again. Updates on production will be closely monitored by the fans who are already anticipating the sequel.
