Jeremy Renner, who plays Marvel’s trick shot archer, Hawkeye, likes to remain in the dark about the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” spoiler, especially about Paul Bettany’s The Vision. Read on for more details on this story.
Renner wants to remain in the dark for as long as it takes when it comes to “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” especially when it’s about Paul Bettany’s The Vision. The actor who plays Hawkeye in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU) admits to The Hollywood Reporter (THR) that he wants to be surprised when he sees the movie.
“I haven’t seen him, I kind of keep my head turned away from all of that so I can be surprised when I see the movie. Obviously I saw Paul Bettany in person as the character, but then they do the visual effects and all that sort of stuff. It will be a surprise to everybody in the movie — Ultron as well as Vision, because those characters were so much generated stuff,” Renner told THR.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” is the follow-up to the epic super hero team-up movie, “Marvel’s The Avengers,” and is the 11th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With S.H.I.E.L.D. destroyed and the Avengers needing a hiatus from stopping threats, Tony Stark jumpstarts a dormant peacekeeping program — Ultron — a self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence, which can assess threats and control Stark’s Iron Legion. However, his plan backfires when Ultron decides that humans are the main enemy and sets out to eradicate them from Earth. The Avengers are put into the ultimate test when the fate of all mankind rests on their hands.
The original Avengers cast will be suiting up and reprise their roles as Earth’s mightiest heroes: Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/ the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, Hayley Atwell, Thomas Kretschmann and Stellan Skarsgård will also reprise their roles from previous MCU films as Maria Hill, Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Peggy Carter, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and Erik Selvig. Claudia Kim was cast as a scientist and friend of Tony Stark, while Andy Serkis is set to play Ulysses Klaw. Paul Bethany who voices J.A.R.V.I.S., Stark’s A.I. butler, is also set to play the synthezoid Vision, an android who is able to control his density, which enables him to phase through walls, fly or have a diamond-hard near invulnerability.
New to the series are Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, who are set to play the Maximoff twins Pietro Maximoff and Wanda Maximoff or Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, respectively. James Spader will play the titular villain, Ultron.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” invades theaters on May 1, 2015, in 2D and IMAX 3D.
