It seems like we won’t be seeing New York’s friendly neighbor star in one of Marvel Studio’s pics. According to Comicbook.com, Sony claims that there is “no validity whatsoever” about the “Avengers” rumors, a representative from Sony has cleared up the rampant reports confirming with Comic Book Resources that there was no validity whatsoever in what was considered “an old rumor.” Rumors about the Spider-Man deal stretch back from last October, sourcing from Entertainment Weekly to Latino Review, as well as the hacked Sony e-mails from last year.
Latino Review previously ran a lengthy article about the Spider-Man deal. The report suggested the superhero joining the ranks of Earth’s mightiest heroes in Marvel’s two-part mega event, “Infinity War, Part One and Part Two.” There was also a suggestive rumor that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield may suit up both as Spider-Man and meet up in an a la “Spider-Men style” movie mash-up.
“The Avengers: Infinity War” will be the two-part sequel in Marvel’s epic superhero team up pics, “The Avengers” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” featuring the Marvel storyline, “Infinity Gauntlet.” Josh Brolin, who made cameos as Thanos in “Avengers” and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” is set to reprise his role as the Mad Titan. He will play a major role with the plot revolving around the infinity stones and the infinity gauntlet. The films will be the 18th and 21st main installments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the sixth and ninth in Phase Three. The second part will be the conclusion of the phase as well. Part I is set to be released on May 2, 2018, with Part II being released in May 3, 2019.
