Iron Stark, Captain America and the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will finally meet the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Infinity War. In the upcoming battle against Thanos, how will the two group of heroes react to one another? Ahead of the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Zoe Saldana hints at the harmony between her group of misfits and the defenders of planet Earth.
An Unexpected Meeting In Space
Marvel is notoriously secretive when it comes to the details of their upcoming movies. Aside from the main villain Thanos (Josh Brolin), the list of characters who will all appear in the movie remains a mystery.
But one of the things that fans know and can expect is the meeting between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Fans already saw Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) hanging out with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) on the set of the movie in Atlanta.
In an interview with Fandango, Saldana made an off-hand comment about the meeting between the two groups. Whilst short, it did offer a glimpse at the anticipated scene.
“We’re also in space, so we’re not being held by gravity,” the actress stated. “And you know we’re stronger.”
The statement above confirms that the meeting will be held in space. How the Avengers got there and why remains to be seen, but it is intriguing to watch Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and others in outer space.
While it has been rumored that parts of the movie will be set outside of Earth, it is still surprising to hear that the Avengers will take the battle to outer space. Aside from Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and, for a short while, Tony Stark, the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have been bound to Earth. Has Thanos and his army succeeded in destroying the Earth, or will the Avengers pursue the Mad Titan in outer space?
Superheroes in Competition
While the heroes of the MCU battled it out to see who is the strongest in Captain America: Civil War, the Guardians of the Galaxy were left out mostly because they did not know what was happening on Earth. So, when the space heroes finally meets the Avengers, a conflict will arise between two teams.
“We were so cocky,” Saldana said. Because the Guardians will encounter the Avengers in their home turf, they feel superior.
Dave Bautista, who plays the role of Drax the Destroyer, added a few more details. “When we come onto set as the Guardians, we are the Guardians.” the actor explained. “Anybody stepping onto set with us has to deal with all of us. There are usually one or two Avengers.”
While Pratt said that his team, who will save the galaxy for a second time this summer, does not get intimidated, he personally was awed by one of his co-stars. The actor admitted that he was secretly intimidated by Hemsworth who, he says, was so tall and handsome. He even joked that while he loves his wife so much, maybe he “also kind of loves Chris Hemsworth a little bit too.”
