Backstrom” Season 1 Episode 4 “I’m A Bird Now” will air on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. on FOX. The team will look into a hate crime in this latest episode. Find out what will happen in the details below. But before that, here’s a quick recap to what happened last week.

In “Takes One to Know One” (air date: Feb. 5, 2015), the Special Crimes Unit (SCU) arrived at the scene of the crime where the found Emma Germain, a 21-year-old youth pastor, stabbed repeatedly inside her church. Backstrom (Rainn Wilson) stipulated that this was a sex crime. In their investigation, they discovered the stiff rules and regulations imposed by the church on its members, and they also found out that the pastor’s wife suspected her husband for having an affair. She hired a private investigator, who became their initial suspect.

But Vincent Cropper refused to talk, and so Backstrom found another way to see through the investigation. He learned that Emma had planned on leaving, but because she was a charismatic member of the church, the pastor thought that her absence would be a blow to the congregation. They could lose members, which meant, losing their income as well.

So the pastor brainwashed another member into believing that Emma was evil. Ryan Durst, thinking that he was doing something for the good of the church, murdered Emma. Backstrom, however, still wanted to pin down the pastor for his crimes, and so with some unconventional maneuvering, he brought up the pastor’s past indiscretion with Emma. Apparently, he had sex with her when she was barely 16, and for this, Backstrom had him arrested for statutory rape.

Spoiler Alert: “Backstrom” Season 1 Episode 4 “I’m A Bird Now” will air on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. on FOX.

In this upcoming episode, the SCU will be called into the investigation of the murder of an internet blogger and drag queen. Jenne Rose is also a prominent member of the LGBT community, which leads Backstrom to conclude that her death is a hate crime. During their investigation, some details will suggest that perhaps Gregory Valentine (Thomas Drekker) knew of the crime, and he happens to be none other than Backstrom’s roommate. He becomes the most likely suspect to Jenna Rose’s murder.

Meanwhile, as it began last week, the investigation by the Civilian Oversight Committee into Backstrom’s case proceeds, and he will have to testify. His ex-fiance, Amy Gazanian (guest star Sarah Chalke) returns this episode, and all these will cause undue stress and anxiety attacks to detective.

Other guest stars to “I Am a Bird Now” will include Amy Pietz as Christina Rose; Zahra Anderson as an Oversight Committee Member; Rizwan Manji as Dr. Deb Chaman; Victor Ayala as Jason Rose; Paul Anthony as Marcus Lester; David Figlioli as David Kettering; Ash Lee as Henry Han; Robbin Fox as Young Woman; Tammy Hui as Lindsay Han; Jeff Schwartz as the Auctioneer; Craig Erickson as Wayne Combs and Jerome Velinsky.
