“Bad Judge” Season 1 Episode 2 “Meteor Shower” aired on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on NBC. At work, Judge Wright took the case of celebrity sensation Brianna. In her personal life, she got it on with a hot fireman and examined her crazy relationship with Gary. Read on for the recap to this latest episode.
Rebecca Wright (Kate Walsh) was at a stop sign, waiting for an old lady to cross when the light turned green. The man behind her was blasting his horn, urging her to move already, which irritated Rebecca. Half-dressed, she got out of her van and grabbed an ax from the fire truck that was parked nearby and punctured the tire of the car of the impatient man behind her. The fireman saw this and told Rebecca she couldn’t do that, but she gave him her card. Should anyone have complaints, she’s a judge. She also told the fireman that he’s really cute.
Arriving at the parking lot of the courthouse, Rebecca was met by her boss, Judge Hernandez (Miguel Sandoval), who reminded her that she was trying a high-profile case involving celebrity sensation Brianna Lohan Barton. She should be in her best behavior, especially with the paparazzi around. Judge Hernandez wondered why she wasn’t dressed properly, and Rebecca reasoned that the A/C on her old beaten up van was out. As she was hurriedly fixing herself up, the media saw her and swarmed up to her. They asked for her thoughts on the Brianna case, and the wacky judge could only give them a hand gesture and a crazy pose.
Coming into the court’s halls, Rebecca met up with Gary (Ryan Hansen), her occasional sex buddy, and she told him they can’t have the usual quickie at her chambers as she was running late with this celebrity case. Gary said it was fine as he needed to testify in another courtroom today, but could he come by later at her house? Rebecca agreed to the date.
Later, Rebecca landed on a tabloid’s website, with the press calling her a “muffin top judge.” But Tedward (Tone Bell), the bailiff, assured her she didn’t have any muffin top.

At her courtroom, Rebecca turned into this whole different person, someone of authority. When she saw that the defendant Brianna had headphones on, she had this confiscated. When Brianna pouted, she threatened to fine her if she does the duck face. When a cell phone rang, Rebecca told everyone in her court that she would send to jail anyone whose phone rang again. Brianna pleaded no contest to the accusations, and the judge scheduled sentencing for the next session.
After work, Gary arrived at her place, and Rebecca had everything ready for their date, including the brownies she nabbed from the evidence locker. But Gary wasn’t staying. He only stopped by because he needed his Magic Mountain pass. He was going on a date with a woman from the coroner’s. Can they instead have a date Friday night, during the meteor shower?
Disappointed but determined to make the most of her night alone, Rebecca watched the 3D movie she rented and ate the brownies. But a few hours later, she started to have a difficult time breathing and called 911. Firemen came to her house, responding to her distress call, and one of them was the hot fireman (Ryan McPartlin) she met early in the day. The next day, Rebecca told Tedward of her disastrous night and of the fact that the fireman already called her three times.
In court, Gary testified on the Brianna case, and his expert opinion was that the celebrity was only doing her antics to get publicity. She was quite a tortured individual. Some of the things Gary said seemed to hit a nerve for Rebecca too, and it hurt. When a cell phone rang in her court, she had everyone jailed for contempt as she warned the day before, which made Judge Hernandez unhappy.
Through Tedward’s prodding, Rebecca went on a date with the fireman, and the two ended up in bed that night. But there’s one minor hitch — while hot fireman was sensitive too, he was pretty much dumb. He only read one book his entire life!
It was the day of sentencing, and Judge Wright decided to send Brianna to the nunnery for a couple of weeks, as part of her community service. There was no internet, no cell phone and no paparazzi there, so she cannot possibly get any other attention.
Judge Wright: Look at this as an opportunity. Get out of the city, clear the voices out of your head and figure out who you are, what you really want.
Rebecca’s advise to Brianna seemed to apply to her too, and so she drove off in her van later that night to clear her head. But the van died on her, so she had to wait by the roadside for someone to come get her as she watched the meteor showers.
Tedward came to her rescue, and as they talked, an oil tanker crashed into her van, totally wrecking it. The van, which pretty much was the longest relationship Rebecca’s had with anyone or anything, was now useless, and it may as well be a metaphor for her relationship with Gary.
