“Bad Judge” Season 1 Episode 5 “Judge and Jury” will air on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on NBC. The judge will be asked to serve on jury duty. How will she fare? Before we get on the details, let us do a quick recap of what happened last week first.
In “Knife to a Gunfight” (air date: Oct. 23, 2014), Judge Rebecca Wright (Kate Walsh) caught a glimpse of this man she helped put on prison. He was apparently out of jail and this worried Tedward (Tone Bell), her bailiff, big time. What if the ex-convict planned on getting back at her? The judge needed protection; she also needed a gun. But Rebecca would not have any of it. She wasn’t anti-gun, in fact, she carried a gun license since she was 11 years old. She just didn't trust herself with a gun.
Tedward vowed to be her bodyguard and made sure that Rebecca was well-aware of her surroundings at work and at home. When they found an alarming note pinned to her car, and heard heavy breathing on the judge’s phone, only then was Rebecca convinced she could be in danger.
But as it turned out, the ex-convict only wanted to talk to her to thank her for turning his life around. He wasn’t a threat. He truly has mended his ways. The note and the heavy breathing were all courtesy of Judy, the court stenographer. She may be a little bit crazy, but she was not a threat at all.
Speaking of crazy, this was who Judge Wright dealt with at court this week, when the defendant, Charlie, was back for a third offense. DA Tom Barlow (John Ducey) was sure that Charlie would be getting a heavier sentence this time, but the judge was convinced otherwise. Surely, in Charlie’s condition, the DA would reconsider. Charlie even represented himself in court. He lawyered for himself, thanks to countless references from blockbuster legal movies.
In the end, Tom relented and Judge Wright recommended that Charlie be confined to an institution which will take care of his mental rehabilitation.
Spoiler Alert: “Bad Judge” Season 1 Episode 5 “Judge and Jury” airs on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on NBC.
The upcoming episode will have Judge Rebecca Wright potentially becominng a part of the jury for this case involving prostitution. In the judge’s view, this should be legalized.
But that’s not what really concerns Rebecca. The truth was, her duties will coincide and conflict with the Serpico Olympics, an annual event at the bar, and this is something she didn’t want to miss. So she will ask Gary to be her replacement at the competition, just in case. Tedward will be training Gary for this.
The episode has Amy Rhodes and Rob Riggle as special guest stars.
